Look in my eyes - what do you see? A Cult of Personal-TEE! Ahem. Insider Gaming's Mike Straw is reporting that CM Punk will be the cover star of WWE 2K26, and as that has meant in recent years, the game's Showcase Mode will feature his career.
Straw said Punk himself will narrate the mode and it will feature three different sections. First, a selection of Punk's favorite matches. Second, some "What If" matches that envision a timeline in which the popular superstar never left the company. Finally, some fantasy bookings will see Punk battle wrestlers he never faced.
Mike Straw is usually right on these things, I have zero reason to doubt his reporting. Plus, everything here makes perfect sense. Punk's return has been one of wrestling's biggest stories, and his WWE success is a painful reminder of how AEW couldn't capitalize on his return the same way. Triple H loves to twist the knife.
The Showcase description is the way these have worked for a while now. In WWE 2K25 we relived some of the Bloodline's biggest victories and rewrote some of its biggest losses. This is one of the things I was most excited about when Take-Two announced they were taking over WWE's licensed games. Nobody in the industry returns you to a particular moment in history better than Take-Two, whether it's the neon-soaked streets of Vice City or the Wild West of Red Dead Redemption becoming a little less wild by the day.
This is sounding like another banger, and I can't wait.
