Sloclap's new soccer effort, Rematch, is off to an impressive start with over one million players kicking it around in its first 24 hours. It is a day one Xbox Game Pass release, which surely helped those numbers. Still, a million players in a day is not a bad number. Once crossplay hits, that number should get even bigger. No game launches in perfect condition, of course, and Rematch had a few things to tweak with its latest patch.

Bugfixes

- Fixed an issue where the ball would hit the goalposts and become entirely out of sync for all players.

- Ball sync issues might still happen under other circumstances.

Network / Performances

- Pushed a fix to reduce the frequency of crashes occurring after scoring a goal on all platforms.

- Various fixes for stability issues.

- Various netcode improvements.

- Updates to matchmaking to further improve queue times.

As for the aforementioned crossplay, Sloclap said it initially planned to have that at launch but unforeseen technical difficulties prevented. It also acknowledged that it should have been more transparent about not having it before the game launched June 19.

"We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players," Sloclap said in an update on the game's official site.

In addition to crossplay, the team is working on improving sliding tackles, goalkeeping, and the dribbling system among other things. I picked Rematch up on launch day and have enjoyed it a lot so far.
