Will NHL 25 be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

The end of August has stirred up a lot of conversation about NHL 25. The NHL 25 Cover Athletes were announced, Pre-Orders have gone live, and there are still many unanswered questions about the new game that will be answered over the next couple of months by EA Sports. One major question that fans have every year has already been answered.

One of the most popular questions that gets asked every year for just about every video game is "what consoles will BLANK be released on?" Of course, when it comes to NHL 25, that question has come up as well.

There will be no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of NHL 25 this year

Like I said before, Pre-Orders are indeed live and if you checked out the NHL 25 Pre-Order page you may have noticed that your only options for purchase were with the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. This means exactly what it appears to look like. NHL 25 will only be released on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. Meaning if you have been thinking about making the jump to either of these consoles, it is required if you want to play NHL 25.

This move by EA Sports makes the most sense as we saw this coming at the tail end of last year. It was speculated that NHL 24 would be the last game made for all four consoles and the speculation turned out to be true.

This will also be a good move by the franchise as now EA Sports can solely focus on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions, meaning all their attention will be on these to make sure you get the best experience possible.

This will not affect Crossplay by any stretch

Crossplay will still be a thing in NHL 25 except it will solely just be for PlayStation 5 to Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay will be available at launch and also available in "all online-enabled World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) modes."

If you still have yet to make the console jump, there is not a better time to do so than now. NHL 25 isn't the first franchise to make this jump, and they definitely won't be the last. We are in a time where the console jump is critical if you want to stay up to date with certain franchises.

NHL 25 will be available worldwide on October 4 and on September 27 for those with early access.
