9: Let Karlach Turn into a Mind Flayer

Many players can argue that, despite it all, we saved Karlach. She gets to live, and choosing to be a Mind Flayer was her idea anyway. And even though her appearance has changed, under all those mucus and tentacles is still the soul of our beloved Karlach. However, recent developments have added a disheartening dimension to the situation.

Larian Studios has added an option for Karlach to have a happy ending upon her return to Avernus. Karlach will discover a blueprint that can fix her engine, allowing her to permanently remove her explosive heart and leave Avernus. So, by subjecting her to the Illithid transformation, you eliminate any chance she had of living freely as her true self.

8. Force Minsc to Kill Jaheira

The return of familiar faces like Jaheira and Minsc undoubtedly sparks joy among devoted fans of the series. In Baldur’s Gate 3, during your adventure as Dark Urge, disclosing your Bhaalspawn identity to them triggers a touching cutscene where Minsc and Jaheira provide you comfort and support after you experience a troubling dream about your bloody legacy. Heart-warming, isn’t it? However, if you aim to be the villain of this story, then gaining Jaheira's trust opens a grim path for said duo.

At Bhaal’s shrine, if you embrace your fate as the champion of Bhaal, Jaheira and Minsc will confront you. You can fight them fair and square, or, you can exploit Minsc's tadpole, compelling him to eliminate Jaheira, his most trusted ally. The profound impact leaves Minsc shaken. And for the first time, you will hear him cry out his distress in first person.
