The 3 best Legend of Zelda games to play for story
The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo's greatest franchises. The series has been beloved since the very first game on the NES. More recently, the Nintendo Switch has made the franchise into Nintendo's own open world offering, having vast worlds for players to explore. There is a lot to love in The Legend of Zelda, with some of its entries having great stories an characters.
3. Link's Awakening
Link's Awakening is a great story, especially on a conceptual level. The entire story is a dream, hence the title. Building off of previous entries in the series, it explores Link's mind, with things both completely new and completely familiar to Link inhabiting the game world. One of the highlights of the game's writing is the air of levity and the humor. The game can be funny, something the Legend of Zelda hadn't tried at that point, and wouldn't try again until the Wind Waker.
2. The Wind Waker
The Wind Waker is the first open world Legend of Zelda game, and is certainly the best open world Zelda game when it comes to writing and story. The game does so much differently from other Zelda games, especially when it comes to Zelda herself. Zelda, or, Tetra, is the best version of Zelda as a character, she undergoes a real arc and plays a unique role in the story. She is a real player in the story, not someone waiting to be saved.
1. Majora's Mask
Majora's Mask takes the cake when it comes to story. Skull Kid and Majora make for the best villains the series has ever seen, not to mention the amazing concept of the moon falling. Clock Town is an amazing location, having more character and development than any other town in the entire franchise. Seeing how the people react to the moon coming down and their own mortality is never done anywhere else in the series. Majora's Mask is a complete departure from every other Zelda game, and it couldn't have been better.
