Thank you, Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 stands as one of the best games of the Nintendo Switch's lifespan. Having a great variety of multiplayer modes, a terrific campaign, and a worthy DLC, Splatoon 3 is undoubtedly one of Nintendo's biggest triumphs of the Switch age.
One of the hallmarks of the Splatoon series has been the Splatfests - large scale community events which find players fighting against each other on teams of their choosing, each team representing a side in a debate. Splatoon 3 featured three-way Splatfests, with themes such as Nessie vs. Aliens vs. Bigfoot and Drums vs. Guitar vs. Keyboard, and for the most recent and final Splatfest, Past vs. Present vs. Future.
The final Splatfest, also called the Grand Festival, was an event to remember. Lasting for three days instead of the regular two, the Grand Festival made it's mark on the Splatoon community. The idols from the previous two games returned to each represent one of the three teams, a real treat for long time fans of the series.
The Grand Festival featured a whole new overworld, new music, and new cosmetic items for players. The event was in every way, grand. Much like previous Final Splatfests, this marks the end of regular updates for the game. Splatoon 3 has had a legendary run when it comes to Splatfests, taking them from a two team format to a three team one. The themes were always creative, and there was a general air of fun and excitement every time one rolled around.
Splatoon 3 features a sort of community bulletin board system, where players can write short messages or make small drawings and share them with the rest of the playerbase. Recently, a common message has been appearing: Thank you Splatoon 3.
It may seem like the end of an era, and in many ways it is. Splatoon 3 had an amazing run, one which will certainly be hard to follow. But not impossible. Here's to hoping Splatoon 4 is just as good, and, of course, Thank you, Splatoon 3.
