Making a video game is hard, which is evident with how long Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League took to make, reportedly being in development for nearly a decade at Rocksteady Studios. After multiple delays, early access is finally upon us, if you're willing to pay $99.99 for the Deluxe Edition of the game. If not, the official launch is February 2 for everyone else.
Even though the game has been in development for a long time, that hasn't stopped the forums from being littered with countless bugs players are experiencing, with one being extremely unpleasant - Weapons are losing their unique perks.
And I've experienced it, firsthand. So, I took to X to vent my frustrations to the official WB Games Support. In less than fifteen minutes, I had an answer back advising a thread had been started where others were reporting the exact same issue.
What exactly is going on?
The issue reportedly stems from Overhauling (re-rolling) the stats on your weapons and gear, which consumes rare resources and currency that you've accumulated from missions or exploring Metropolis. The more you overhaul, the more it costs.
Last night, prior to logging off, I overhauled a legendary Lexcorp Assault Rifle that tore through enemy shields and tanks only to log in today with the perk completely gone.
I lost 60+ of the yellow legendary materials, and I don't have an exact figure on the other materials, but I lost about 400k in currency from the 15 hours I've been grinding since early access started on January 30.
Some have advised this only occurs after re-logging while others have said it only occurs if you leave the weapon in the first slot. Meanwhile, another in the thread shows it happening to their mod slot. My recommendation? Don't overhaul, re-roll, or augment any of the weapon and gear, including legendary, notorious, or infamy set items, using the crafting system until a fix is implemented.
When will this be fixed?
I reached out to Jason Burt-D'Arcy, Lead Web Developer at Rocksteady Studios, on X about a timeframe for a fix and he replied, "I'll run it up the flagpole."
So as it currently stands, there is no official word on an actual fix or when a fix will be patched into the game.
With the official launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League soon, this issue will become more noticeable as more players get their hands on the game. Hopefully a fix is implemented quickly so I can get back to crafting and maybe some lost currency and materials can be sent our way for the trouble?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches on February 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The game will release on the Epic Games Store on March 5.
