Pokemon TCG: 15 Most Valuable Water-Type Pokemon Cards of All Time
By Chris Guest
Water-Type Pokemon Cards Worth Between $300 - $400
7. Suicune Star – Holofoil
Set: Unseen Forces
Market Price: $338.00
The second appearance of Suicune on this list, this time in its shiny form, this card from Unseen Forces is the first to breach the $300 threshold – and with good reason. The “star” sub-type of Pokemon card is among the most revered in the game, both among trainers and collectors, due to their interesting powers and strong attacks as well as their supreme scarcity, respectively. This shiny Suicune has it all, as its attacks are intriguing and its artwork and foiling method are both quite striking. A card that earns its near-$350 price point.
6. Shining Gyarados – Holofoil
Set: Neo Revelation
Market Price: $374.98
Perhaps the single water-type card that defines “chase card,” Shining Gyarados from Neo Revelation was the first card – alongside its pre-evolution Magikarp – to receive a shiny treatment in the Pokemon TCG. This card features powerhouse attacks that require fighting-type and fire-type energies (rare for a water-type) as well as truly iconic artwork from Pokemon design maestro Ken Sugimori (this one likely being among his best). It is somewhat surprising to see this card at only number six on the list, but the top five all surely deserve their place as the most valuable water-type Pokemon cards of all time.
5. Articuno – Holofoil
Set: Skyridge
Market Price: $393.94
The final card featured here from the legendary Skyridge set, this striking Articuno card marked only the second appearance of the card in the TCG after its debut in the Fossil set – where it was also among the most valuable cards found there. With unusual artwork from Hajime Kusajima and frankly odd abilities and attacks (this card’s Poké-BODY - Water Immunity stops you from attaching water energy to it from your hand), it’s no wonder that this card is worth just under $400 today.
