Fans have been asking and asking for years and years, and now the Backyard Sports franchise is officially set to return, as Playground Productions announced that they are slated to bring the video game series back "in the coming months", along with Backyard Sports merchandise, movies, and TV shows.

From 1997 to 2010, there were a total of 36 Backyard Sports games released, featuring baseball, soccer, football, basketball, hockey, and even skateboarding. Two mobile apps were later released in 2015, but for much of the fanbase, the current “rain delay” that Playground Productions have committed to ending goes all the way back to 2010.

Baseball, more than any other sport, has been the primary focus following the announcement of the return of the iconic franchise, which was originally developed by Humongous Entertainment. Backyard Baseball was the original game, and baseball was the focus of one of the two 2010 titles which wrapped up the initial 14-year stint.

Starting with Backyard Baseball 2001, there have been MLB players featured in the game. But as is the case in any Backyard Sports release featuring professional players in the game, alongside the many lovable Backyard Kids, those spots are limited.

Here is one player from each of the 30 MLB teams who could be included when the game officially returns. Let’s start with the National League East division.
