19. Doric’s Quest

Difficulty: 1/10
Nostalgia: 6/10
Storyline: 1/10
Overall: 3.0/10

When I first started playing RuneScape pay-to-play rather than free-to-play, one of the first things I was told about questing was that it gets a bit more complicated than simply fetching items for NPCs who are too lazy to retrieve them for themselves.

Doric’s Quest certainly fits that bill on the free-to-play quest list, and it was probably the least memorable quest of the group, given the fact that all you need to do is collect a bunch of different types of ore in order to use Doric’s anvil – which you probably never ended up using anyway.

The best part of this quest is probably the fact that it awards a considerable amount of Mining experience. Even if you buy the ore ahead of time instead of mining it, you end up with level 10 Mining right off the bat.

Level 10 Mining is one of the very few requirements for any Old School RuneScape free-to-play quests, that being The Knight’s Sword. In fact, on paper, it’s the only skill requirement for any of the 22 quests, though you’d be wise to get your combat level up before embarking upon several of them.

One thing that keeps this quest valuable – and boosts its nostalgia rating – is the fact that it is no longer available in RuneScape 3, as it was replaced by What’s Mine is Yours. You can’t not respect a true Old School relic.
