21. X Marks the Spot

Difficulty: 1/10

Storyline: 4/10
Overall: 2.8/10

X Marks the Spot is a fun quest to speedrun in Quest Speedrunning worlds because of how quick it is and how perfect you need to be to achieve a good time. In fact, it’s arguably the quickest of the 15 speedrunning quests, making its platinum/diamond achievements a true measure of “speedrun” prowess.

But in the main game, it’s pretty much what you’d expect: you go to a couple of locations and dig up the clues to get to the next one to complete Veos’ treasure hunt.

The quest does serve as sort of an introductory quest of the Great Kourend quest series, which is a pivotal part of the game for those players who go on to become members.

Having said that, it’s not even a requirement to visit Great Kourend, and it came along after a lot of Kourend-related content had already been released. And don't forget that Kourend favour no longer exists.

Digging a spade a couple times in Lumbridge and Draynor Village isn’t exactly going to be a huge hook to get non-members to subscribe, though it can be somewhat of a confidence booster to new players looking to rack up easy quest points.
