10. Shield of Arrav

Difficulty: 2/10
Nostalgia: 8/10
Storyline: 7/10
Overall: 6.4/10

Shield of Arrav is arguably a top five quest if you consider the entire storyline. Unfortunately, you don’t actually get to take part in the entire storyline since the quest requires you to do it with a friend (or, in some cases, with a second account).

That alone creates a bit of a dilemma. If you do it with a friend, you don’t get to experience the full quest. If you do it alone, you do, but you have to do it on multiple accounts at once, which does sort of take away from the experience. And, of course, you don’t get that true Old School feel of actually doing it with another player like you probably did back in 2007.

While developers were right to keep the quest as is when Old School RuneScape came out, it’s hard to argue against the RuneScape 3 variant being superior here when it comes to playability. That said, the Old School version is still the better quest.

The quest itself is well thought out, with two gangs each possessing one half of the Shield of Arrav and your task being to find a way to get both halves to complete the quest. As one of the original six quests released back in January 2001, it will forever be a classic, and for that reason, it should remain the way it is.
