12. The Restless Ghost

The Restless Ghost is one of the six original RuneScape quests, and it remains an icon and a classic to this day. Along with Cook’s Assistant, it is one of only two of the six original quests that have not been fundamentally changed at some point in RuneScape 3 – more than two decades later.

A ghost is haunting the Lumbridge graveyard, as it cannot rest until its soul is transported to the afterlife. Your job is to retrieve its skull from the basement of the Wizards’ Tower to create what amounts to a win-win situation. It’s pretty straightforward, and while you may be attacked by a skeleton while retrieving the skull, all you need to do is run away.

This quest is most important for its access to the Ghostspeak Amulet (largely for members quests down the road) and for its Prayer experience reward, which will likely boost your combat level if you do it early enough when your Prayer level is low. 

Doing it with level 1 Prayer will take you to level 9, though I don’t recommend training Prayer a ton as a non-member beyond that since you don’t have access to gilded altars for the best experience – and thus the most cost-effective rates.
