NHL 25 dropped the major cover athlete news that all three Hughes brothers would be the cover athlete for this year's installment. Whether you are a fan of the New Jersey Devils, the Vancouver Canucks, the Hughes brothers, or just hockey in general, this news may have got your hyped up for the next installment in the franchise.

Before you know it, NHL 25 will be here. NHL 25 has a worldwide release date of October 4. However, players can get their hands on NHL 25 a week early by putting in a pre-order for the game. There are also a handful of other pre-order bonuses you will receive by pre-ordering, so let's dive in to see what EA Sports has in store this year for loyal pre-order customers.

NHL 25 Standard Edition ($69.99)

As always, EA Sports is a company that is all about choices. You will have the choice this year on two Editions of NHL 25 you would like to purchase. The first one is the Standard Edition.

If you decide to go with the Standard Edition of NHL 25, you might as well get a pre-order in because the Standard Edition is just your basic of the barrel edition. If you pre-order the Standard Edition, you will get more bang for your buck than you would by not pre-ordering NHL 25.

Standard Edition Pre-Order Incentives

  • 500 NHL Points
  • HUT NHL Player Pack
  • WOC Battle Pass XP Boost (x2)
  • Immediate Reward In NHL 24 (Choice of Jack, Quinn, or Luke Hughes at 99 OVR)

By getting on the NHL 25 train early, you will get some rewards that will help give you a jumpstart on this year's game. If you are someone who focuses on HUT and WOC, these pre-order bonuses will come in handy. These game modes can get extremely competitive, so if there is an opportunity to get a head start from other players, you might as well take it.

NHL 25 Deluxe Edition ($99.99)

The Deluxe Edition is $29.99 more expensive, but you also get a lot more rewards as well as getting to play NHL 25 as early as September 27. If you are an avid sports video gamer, you know that every year there are new mechanics and playstyles that you need to get adjusted to. Getting an extra week early to play NHL 25 can be a huge bonus to those who play competitively and really learn things that new players will just be learning on October 4.

Deluxe Edition Pre-Order Incentives

  • 7-Days Early Access, including a head start in initial HUT campaign and WOC season
  • 4600 NHL Points
  • WOC Season 1 Premium Battle Pass
  • Immediate Reward in NHL 24 (Choice of Jack, Quinn, or Luke Hughes at 99 OVR)
  • HUT Cover Athlete Choice Pack (85 OVR, 1 of 8)
  • HUT Wildcard Starter Choice Pack (84 OVR, 1 of 6)
  • HUT “Hockey is Family” Objectives Choice Pack (x2, 82 OVR)
  • HUT NHL Player Pack
  • WOC Battle Pass XP Boost (x2)
  • Exclusive WOC Player Set

Just like the Standard Edition incentives, the Deluxe Edition focuses heavily on HUT and WOC bonuses. However, because you are paying $30 extra, these rewards come in greater bulk. If NHL is a game that you grind every year, the Deluxe Edition can be the exact version of the game you are looking for.

There is also an added bonus that you can receive by pre-ordering NHL 25 and that is a HUT Hughes Brothers Choice Pack. This rewards is available with both the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition, but there is a catch. The only way to receive this additional reward is to have NHL 25 pre-ordered by September 13, 2025. Any pre-orders made after September 13 will not be eligible to receive this HUT Hughes Brothers Choice Pack.

While there is still a lot to learn in regards to NHL 25, the game will be here before you know it. There is also a lot to think about as well. Hardcore NHL fans will more than likely lean towards the Deluxe Edition, but fans more on the casual side of things will lean more into the Standard Edition. It really just boils down to how much you plan on playing the game and what modes you are looking to focus on.

NHL 25 releases this fall on October 5 and will be available on both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S.
