New PS5 and PS4 games releasing in January 2024
The new year is upon us and while this usually signals a slow time for the gaming industry, PlayStation is kicking things off with a bang. 2024 starts hot for PlayStation owners with the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered.
The Last of Us Part II, the follow-up to Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic blockbuster, first released in 2020 for PlayStation 4. Although it was playable on PS5, it wasn't native to the console and, therefore, lacked many next-gen features.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered offers all the next-gen upgrades one would expect such as native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, an Unlocked Framerate option for TVs that support VRR, increased texture resolution, increased Level-of-Detail distances, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more. There's also a new mode, No Return, which is a roguelike survival mode, a new set of never-before-seen Lost levels that offers playable segments from sequences that were previously cut, and behind-the-scenes commentary from the developers of the game.
Another big release in January is Tekken 8. The latest in the fighting game franchsie featuers 32 fighters with completely redesigned visuals and highly detailed models built for next-gen consoles, a new story that continues the saga of the Mishimia and kazam bloodlines, and a new battle system, Heat, which blends an aggressive new fighting style with the classic tactics and feel of the series.
