With May right around the corner, NetEase has shared new details for the upcoming Closed Alpha Test of Marvel Rivals.

The highly anticipated 6v6 team-based PvP shooter, which features a mix of Marvel super heroes and villains, was revealed earlier this year, while NetEase teased that a Closed Alpha test wiill take place in May.

In an update this week, the developer confirmed the test will run from May 10 at 5:00 p.m. PDT until May 20th at 11:59 p.m. PDT. In addition to the dates, they confirmed how they will be selecting participants and the content we can expect to experience.

Who will get into the Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Test?

As this is a closed alpha, NetEase is keeping the number of participants small. Only 30,000 players will be invited to participate.

Additionally, they will only be selecting people who live within the United States and Canada.

""As a matchmaking-based multiplayer game, where duration, server physical distance, and time zones shape the battlefield, a test boasting 30,000 contenders finds its true home in a single region.""

Simply living in these countries will not get you access though. Those who are selected must also meet the Recommended System Requirements, which are as follows:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Super) or AMD RX 5700-XT
  • DirectX Version: 12
  • Storage Space: 70 GB SSD

What content will be available on the Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Test?

The Closed Alpha will feature three game modes (Convoy, Domination, and Convergence) across three maps (YGGSGARD: YGGDRASILL PATH, YGGSGARD: ROYAL PALACE, TOKYO 2099: SHIN-SHIBUYA).

Players will have access to 19 Marvel Super Heroes and Villains: Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hela, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Luna Snow, Magik, Magneto, Mantis, Namor, Peni Parker, Punisher, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Storm, Scarlet Witch, and Spider-Man.

Many of these characters have already been shown off in previous trailers or videos for the game, so there are no real surprises.

As a reminder, Marvel Rivals has only been announced for PC, but there's a chance that it could come to additional platforms in the future. NetEase has also promised to continue updating the game with new characters, maps, and game modes.
