Madden 25: When is the Week 1, 53-man roster update coming?

The 2024-2025 NFL season is almost upon us! In less than a week, the regular season will kick off as the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 7th.

For many, the NFL season already began thanks to Madden NFL 25. However, some of you may have been waiting on starting your Franchise as the rosters in the game are not 100% accurate to the real life rosters.

While mostly accurate, the current rosters do not technically represent the finalized 53-man rosters across the NFL. That's because the game was released before teams were required to finalize their 53-man rosters on Tuesday, August 27th.

When is the first roster update for Madden 25?

The first roster update for Madden 25 is usually the largest of the season. That's because it contains all of the roster changes that have taken place in the time between the final preseason game and the roster cut day.

Finalized rosters were due on on August 27th, which means EA had a little over a week to get these changes into Madden 25. Between roster changes and player adjustments, we're talking thousands of updates. It's no easy feat, but each year EA makes it work.

EA hasn't announced when the Week 1, 53-man roster update will go live in Madden 25, but we do have good precedent for when we can expect in. In years past, EA has typically delivered the Week 1 update ahead of the Thursday night kickoff game.

Assuming that to be the case this year as well, we can expect Madden 25's Week 1 Roster Update to arrive sometime on Thursday, August 5th.

There will be a ton of changes reflected in the update, but some notable cuts that happened include the Chiefs parting ways with wide receiver Kadarius Toney and the New England Patriots releasing quarterback Bailey Zappe. The Tennessee Titans also traded quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers. All of this and more should be reflected in the Madden 25 Week 1 Roster Update.
