Palworld is a brand new monster-collection, survival crafting game from developer Pocketpair, Inc. The game has drawn comparisons to Pokemon, mostly due to the monster-collecting aspect, but it offers so much more in terms of survival-crafting gameplay.

Palworld launched in early access on Xbox consoles and PC. It's even available to play for free through an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Since the game's early access launch on January 19, it has already sold more than 2 million copies in just 24 hours since release. But one can't help but wonder if it could've sold even more if it were available on more platforms.

As of this writing, Palworld is only available to play on Xbox and PC platforms. But is it coming to PS4 or PS5, and if so, how long will we have to wait?

Is Palworld coming to PlayStation consoles?

Prior to Palworld's launch, Pocketpair posted a FAQ on the game's Discord server. They specifically addressed the game's platforms and if it will be coming to PS5. Here's what they said:

"We don't have plans for this at the moment, but will consider it during development."

Pocketpair didn't specifically rule out Palworld coming to PS4 or PS5 in the future, but if it does end up comign to them, it sounds as though it will be quite some while. The fact that they are only just considering it means it could be at least a year or so, if not longer.

It's unclear why Palworld didn't release on PlayStation platforms, although the fact that it's available on Xbox Game Pass may indicate there was some sort of publishing deal with Microsoft. It's difficult to imagine why else Pocketpair would skip out on one of the most popular console platforms.

As the game is only in Early Access, there's still plenty of time for it to come to PS4 or PS5 before its official release. Pocketpair will likely want to focus on getting the game ready for the official release before thinking about bringing it to additional platforms.

However, given the game's early sales success so far it's clera there is demand for it. One would think that Pocketpair would want to expand its availability to additional platforms, especially one with a player base as large as PlayStation. There was no mention of the Nintendo Switch as a possible platform either.

So for now, the only way to play Palworld is on Xbox consoles or PC. It costs $29.99, or you can play it for free through Xbox Game Pass. There's a chance the price could increase closer to its official launch.
