Is MLB The Show 24 free through PS Plus?
MLB The Show 24 arrived on Friday in early access for those who pre-ordered one of the special editions, with its full release coming this week. This year's game is once again available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo.
And once again, MLB The Show is available for free for those with a subscription to Xbox Game Pass. But what about PlayStation?
Can you play MLB The Show 24 through PS Plus?
Unfortunately, those who plan to play MLB The Show 24 on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 will have to pay full price as it will not be available as part of the PS Plus catalog.
March's offering of free PS Plus games is already available to claim and MLB The Show 24 is not in it. It's never been a PS Plus launch title in the past, so it was always a long shot for this year.
Still, it's an awkward situation in which a game that is developed by Sony subsidiary San Diego Studio is free on a rival platform like Xbox but not on Sony's own PlayStation. Although it likely has more to do with the publisher making the decision.
Although Sony publishes the title on PlayStation, the MLB publishes the game on other platforms, like Xbox and Nintendo. So it was the MLB's decision to make it playable through Xbox Game Pass, likely as a way to increase exposure to the game of baseball.
If you are interested in playing MLB The Show 24 this year, it's available for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4. The prices are the same the respective console generation on Xbox for those without Game Pass. On Nintendo Switch, you can get it for $59.99 as well.
MLB The Show 24 officially launches on March 19, 2024. This year's game features all the same beloved game modes and even expands upon them with a new career mode dubbed "Road to the Show: Women Pave Their Way." There are also two Storylines mode, one which contniues The Negro Leagues and another which tracks Derek Jeter's career.
