Helldivers 2: How to Fix "Failed to Join Lobby" Error
Helldivers 2 has just made its long-awaited release after almost an entire decade. If you wanted to dive into the sequel nine years later like a lot of gamers, you may have found yourself to be halted by a few errors Helldivers 2 has thrown your way.
Errors and bugs are very common when it has to do with a games launch. These errors can occur from a variety of different reasons. They can be because of the servers not being able to hold the number of players all trying to get on the game at once. They can also be because the developers didn't know something needed to be fixed before the public gets there hands on the game. That is why video games go through so many updates and patches over the lifespan of the game.
How to fix the "Quickplay" and the "Failed to Join Lobby errors
Helldivers 2 is no different in this aspect. If you have loaded up the game and were looking to find some online matches, there is a decent chance you have come across some errors. The two most common errors that we have seen so far in Helldivers 2 is the "Quickplay" error and the "Failed to Join Lobby" error. Both of these errors can be quite irritating, but luckily Arrowhead Game Studios is aware and will be fixing the problems as soon as possible.
Arrowhead Game Studios released a statement about the errors saying "I just wanted to let you all know we're working as hard as we can on resolving these, the volume of players exposed some shenanigans in the system that went past many, many, many hours or testing. We have tried resolving it on the backend only but it seems like we will have to patch the game to resolve the issue. Sorry for this and thank you for your patience."
Since they weren't able to fix the game on their backend, that means we will have to wait until an update is pushed out to patch up these errors. It also appears that because of how many players are trying to play the game, that is the main reason as to why these errors are occurring.
While there isn't a definite fix for either of these two errors until a patch is put out, there is something that you can try that has worked for other games for the time being.
If you navigate to the "Options" menu and then click on "Gameplay," you will see a toggle for "Crossplay." Turn this off and see if you are getting the same errors as you were before.
By turning Crossplay off, it is limiting the number of players that you can play with to just your specific console. With the player pool being smaller, you may be able to bypass those pesky errors that you were once getting. This isn't a definite fix, but it is definitely worth a shot.
If this still doesn't appear to fix the issue, the only other thing left to do is wait for Arrowhead to create a patch. With them being aware of the issue, a patch should be coming in the very near future.
