Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail pre-orders: What comes in each Edition?

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, the next major expansion for the online role-playing game, is set to release in July (or June for early access). But pre-orders go live on Tuesday, March 26th at 9:00 a.m. PDT.

When it comes to pre-purchasing Dawntrail, there are a few different options, each with special pre-order bonuses and in-game items. And each at varying price points.

Before we get into the specific differences with each edition, it should be noted that pre-ordering any version of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will get you entry to early access which is tentatively scheuled for June 28, 2024.

As for the pre-order bonuses, you'll get Wind-up Zidane Minion and Azeyma's Earrings. Wind-up Zidane Minion is a miniature version of Final Fantasy IX's Zidane. It's a vanity pet with no effects on your attributes.

The Azeyma's Earrings sound far more valuable as they grant 30% increase in EXP gained by defeating enemies when worn. The downside is that these are only equippable by Disciples of war or Magic classes and jobs.

Now as for the different Editions available for purchase, here's what we've got.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Standard Edition ($39.99)

Available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, WIndows, Mac and Steam for $39.99. This grants access to Dawntrail and both Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansion packs.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Digital Collector’s Edition ($59.99)

Available for $59.99, the Digital Collector's Edition comes with three in-game items:

• Ark Mount: Modeled after the dynamic eidolon from Final Fantasy IX
• Wind-up Garnet Minion: A vanity pet that looks like Final Fantasy IX's Garnet
• Chocobo Brush (equipped by Pictomancers): A whimsical brush

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Collector’s Box ($155)

This one is odd because it doesn't include a copy of Dawntrail. But what you do get are five physical items: Dawntrail Special Art Box, Expertly Crafted Viper Figure, Adventurer’s Cloth Map, The Unending Journey Ruled Notebook, and an Adventurer’s Pen Case.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Collector’s Edition ($214.99)

The mother of all Dawntrail editions, this includes the Collector's Box items along with a Windows or Mac Digital Collector's Edition of Dawntrail. You also get access to the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions.
