Final Fantasy VII Rebirth preload and global release times for PS5

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases in just a few days on Thursday, February 29th. The upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive will require 145GB of space. That's a pretty hefty download, even by today's standards.

With no early access, you'll be able to start playing at midnight on February 29th. To give yourself a head start and be able to jump right in the moment the game unlocks, you may want to consider preloading Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

When can you preload Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?

In order to preload Final Fantasy VII, you must first buy it. There are multiple editions available for pre-order through the PlayStation Store.

Once you've purchased the game, preloading will being on February 27th, giving you 48 hours to download the game before release. You'll be able to access the preload option from the game's product page in the PlayStation Store. The option to buy the game will be replaced with a promp to download it.

What time will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth unlock?

Square Enix hasn't officially announced global release times for Final Fantasy VII Release date, but it is set to launch on February 29th. It will unlock at midnight local time for most of the world, but in the United States, games typically launch at midnight East Time. This means you may be able to start playing prior to midnight local time if you live in earlier times zones.

If it's a midnight Eastern Time release in the United States, here's when you'll be able to start playing across the country:

  • 9 p.m. PDT
  • 10 p.m. MDT
  • 11 p.m. UTC
  • 12 a.m. EDT

One thing we can confirm is there is no early access for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, there is a two-part demo available to play right now. Progress doesn't carry over into the full launch but you do get a free in-game item and can skip certain parts of the opening area.
