Final Fantasy VII Rebirth "Dawn of a New Era in Junon" Demo available
The second demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is now available. Titled "Dawn of a New Era in Junon," the special preview of the highly anticipated game offers players a glimpse into the Junon area of the game.
For those unfamiliar with the original game, Junon is a major city and military installation that you visit a few hours into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Once a small, peaceful fishing town, Junon was overtaken by Shinra Electric Power Company who built an elevated airfield directly above the town, blocking out the sun and polluting the surrounding areas.
You'll learn more about Junon when the full game releases, but for now this demo allows you to explore a small piece of the area. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth features a much more open-world environment than the original game with areas to explore and side quests to complete.
The "Dawn of the New Era in Junon" demo provides a nice example of what to expect with the open world exploratoin. The demo has been altered, however, to make the content more compact. And any progress you make will not carry over into the final game as release.
"Dawn of the New Era in Junon" is the second of this two-part demo. The first part, "Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim" is already available and features an extended flashback section in which Cloud recalls an earlier mission in his career as a SOLDIER. In this first part, you play alongside Sephiroth and investigate the sudden appearance of monsters in the mountains above Cloud's town.
Although your progress in these demos do not carry over to the full game, you will be rewarded for your time. Those with save data from the demo will receive the Kupo Charm and Survival Set in the full game. You'll also be able to skip past sections covered in the "Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim" demo.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming to PS5 on February 29, 2024.
