Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Top 5 Most Surprisingly Good NPCs

RPGs are awash with NPCs (non-player characters) to fill out the worlds. Some of them are random people you come across just wondering the streets, some are sitting in bars, and some of them are ones you regularly have to work with. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has no shortage of characters but some of them clearly outshine the others to a surprising degree. Here are my 5 favorites.

Elena

Elena was one of the most underused of the Turks. Not appearing in many of the spin-offs and side stories like Advent Children, or Crisis Core. Even in "Before Crisis" which is a hard to find side-story, she's mentioned but doesn't actually show up.

I'll be honest, when I encountered her in Rebirth my first thought was to look her up because I genuinely didn't even remember this character. After a couple scenes I see why. She wasn't really well used. Rebirth changes that, however.

Not only is Elena practically overflowing with personality, her scenes are genuinely entertaining. She could, theoretically, be the best agent the Turks have if it wasn't for the fact that her seriousness about her job and the focus she puts into it can't handle the complete random nature of our Avalanche kiddos. It seems that, more often than not, she's a total badass until the point where she has to ask, "What are you doing?!" before getting flung to the wayside by some sort of nonsense.

She's out to prove herself, she works hard, and she's incredibly well written. I love Rude/Reno, don't get me wrong. But the way her plucky but also focused methods pair with Rude's is just wonderful. This is a game where the developers have picked up on how much people love the Turks, and Elena is the perfect example of this.
