Everything to Know About Indiana Jones and the Great Circle before its release

The long-awaited Indiana Jones game finally arrives at the end of 2024. Players will be able to transform into one of Hollywood’s most legendary heroes to traverse the globe, solve mysteries, and fight off bad guys. I was able to attend a sneak peek event for the game shortly before its Gamescom reveal and found out lots of new info about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Here’s everything to know about the highly anticipated game.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle release date revealed 

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released for Xbox and PC on December 9, 2024. But one of the most shocking pieces of news is that in spring 2025, the game will also be released for PS5. Upon the announcement, gamers once again questioned whether Xbox might be venturing away from exclusive games, or if it plans on leaving the console market entirely. The Great Circle will also have a day-one debut on Game Pass.

There’s lots of different play styles to choose from

One of the coolest parts about the game is the amount of various tools and weapons Indy can use. This won’t be a one-size-fits-all type of game, and different scenarios will call for different actions. Some scenes will be more action-packed and players will get to crack Indy’s iconic whip. Others will require players to be stealthy, and sometimes you’ll even need to put on a disguise and talk your way out of a situation. 

Jones will also be equipped with a camera, and when you snap a picture of a historical monument or item, you’ll get information about its history and backstory. For players who love lots of history and world-building (or want just a small break from the story), these little moments will be really fun and interesting.

The game is set in the official Indy timeline

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set in the official Indy timeline. The game’s creators said it takes place in 1937, placing it between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade. Since Temple of Doom is actually a prequel, it means that this game takes place after the events of that film as well. 

Raiders and Last Crusade also served as the main inspirations for the game. During the preview event, the creators said that the style and vibe of those movies were their blueprint for building the game’s world and Indy’s character.

Two versions of the game are being released 

At its launch, two versions of the game will be released. Players can purchase the standard edition – which will be the version available on Game Pass – for $69.99. Xbox also has a preorder special right now where anyone who buys the game will get “The Last Crusade Pack” which includes the traveling suit outfit and lion tamer whip, as seen in The Last Crusade. 

There will also be the Digital Premium Edition for $99.99. Players with the premium edition will get 3 days of early access to the game and the version comes with The Order of Giants DLC, as well as a digital artbook and Indy’s outfit from Temple of Doom.
