Black Myth Wukong is full of optional bosses. These are of course the hardest ones and provide some of the best armor. One of the earlier ones you can get is the Man in Stone quest in chapter two. It's completely optional and even more difficult to know you are part of. I stumbled upon it by accident, but was able to complete it. Below, I take you through how to complete it and your rewards. In fact, you even need to do this in order to complete another optional boss.

Man in Stone Quest Guide and Rewards

You will need to be in chapter two and head to the fright cliff section - squall hideout shrine. Head directly right from the shrine but go through the canyon. It doesn't look traversable, but it is. At the end of the canyon, you will find the Man in Stone. You can talk to him and listen for his request of a special stone that the area's Mother of Stone boss is holding. In order to find the boss, you will need to head left from the same shrine and into the cave. Inside the cave is where it gets tricky as the game and lighting clearly wants you to go to the right (which you do need for story). However, go to the left and follow the path up to the end where you'll see the Mother of Stone. She'll have three giant blue stones on her, and attacking her causes other rock enemies to spawn. They aren't tough, but you can get outnumbered if you don't take them out. The Mother of Stone herself doesn't attack, so tee off on her once you get down to one rock enemy as they can get hit in the crosshairs.

Once defeated, take the stone back to the Man in Stone. He'll try to betray you by attacking, but he's pretty easy to beat. Once you beat him, he'll give you access to a new shop. One of the items in this shop is a Sobering Stone, which you need for the next quest.

Yellow Robe Squire Quest and secret Kingdom of Sahali Guide

The next quest is the Yellow Robe Squire which is in the same area. You'll need to head to Fright Cliff - Rock Rest Flat shrine. Go through the open area to the left and you'll see a single enemy walking around in the back. Behind him is a small fence barrier that you'll need to break and go through. (It's not an obvious break). The squire is an NPC you can speak to. He's blasted drunk, and looking for a Sobering Stone to get him back on his feet. Give him the stone if you already have it and he'll move to the Crouching Tiger Shrine (this is story related). All he wants at this point is a jade lotus, which you should have plenty of by foraging by now. Mr. Squire will now head back to the first spot, where he also will challenge you. He's a pretty straight forward boss, and beating him will get you a map to the secret area Kingdom of Sahali. If he doesn't fight and asks for his gold piece, you'll need to beat the first prince rat boss. He is in the Sand gate village - valley of despair. Enter the cave and go left he's right at beginning. You get the gold piece as a reward.

This is an incredible map with three separate secret bosses all with their own rewards. The first gets you a Tiger Tally that increases your attack power as you land light attack hits. The second is the best help in the Wind Tamer Vessel. This provides immunity to wind attacks (which is helpful as it's the boss in this area) and even stuns bosses when you deploy it. It's similar to the fire vessel you found in the first area. The cool down is incredibly fast on these, which is good and bad as the immunity also goes away in the same time.

Both of these are completely missable but provide some of the best rewards early on. I actually found the Mother in Stone first by exploring before the Man in Stone, but it doesn't matter which you do. Hopefully, this helps you advance in Black Myth Wukong. Let us know below what you think.
