Pokémon TCG Pocket release trading feature and "Space-Time Smackdown" card expansion
Since its release, Pokémon TCG Pocket has lent itself quite masterfully towards reigniting the love many had for the Pokémon trading card game when they were kids. This uptick in nostalgia has been quite profitable for The Pokémon company as many players have returned to the trading card game, and many others like myself have learned to play it, despite merely collecting the cards when I was a kid.
To add to the fanfare around Pokémon’s successful app, an update set to release on January 29th will add yet another critical element to Pokémon Pocket. That element will allow players to trade cards.
Pokémon Pocket’s trading feature has been heavily anticipated, with the game alluding to the fact that this will be an available feature since its release. The feature will be limited at the start, with only specific cards being tradeable once it released. According to the information we have, these certain cards will only be tradeable for other cards of similar quality.
The system will function on the basis of trade hourglasses (similar to others already available in-game) and trade tokens, which will be used to trade cards with a rarity of 1-4 stars and 1-star cards of the same rarity. There had been previous speculation that shine dust would be used for these trades, so for those of us who had decided to stockpile this item, alas we are out of luck.
In addition to training, a new expansion of cards dubbed “Space-Time Smackdown” featuring cards predominantly from generation four as well as the box legendaries for Diamond and Pearl: Dialga and Palkia. Generation four had been a successful part of the brand in recent years, having been the focus of the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Nintendo Switch remakes, as well as the focus of fan-favorite Pokémon Legend: Arceus. One can expect that Generation 4’s success will extend to this Pokémon Pocket expansion and create new fun options for players to explore when it comes to assembling their decks.
