5 – Jangmo-o/Hakamo-o/Kommo-o

Jangmo-o Type: Dragon

Jangmo-o Classification: Scaly Pokemon

Jangmo-o Pokedex: It expresses its feelings by smacking its scales. Metallic sounds echo through the tall mountains where Jangmo-o lives. They live in mountains where no trace of humans can be detected. Jangmo-o grow little by little as they battle one another.

Hakamo-o/Kommo-o Type: Dragon/Fighting

Hakamo-o/Kommo-o Classification: Scaly Pokemon

Hakamo-o Pokedex: It leaps at its prey with a courageous shout. Its scaly punches tear its opponents to shreds. It sheds and regrows its scales on a continuous basis. The scales become harder and sharper each time they’re regrown.

Kommo-o Pokedex: When it spots enemies, it threatens them by jingling the scales on its tail. Weak opponents will crack and flee in panic. Its rigid scales function as offense and defense. In the past, its scales were processed and used to make weapons and other commodities.

Explanation: If Drampa was the perfect mythical dragon, Jangmo-o and family are the perfect battle dragons. Utterly distinct from the other dragons we’ve seen in Pokemon before with their jangling scales and Fighting-type, this trio seems as though it must be based on something out of folklore, but I’m not so sure it is. From what I can find, these guys are actually jangling dinosaurs whose names may be based off of a mix of the Komodo dragon and the name of a traditional dance. What’s important, though, is that we believe there’s some sort of local lore about them, and their unique naming conventions, awesome appearances, and backstory certainly lend them that mystical quality.
