10 – Salandit/Salazzle

Type: Poison/Fire

Classification: Toxic Lizard Pokemon

Salandit Pokedex: It burns its bodily fluids to create a poisonous gas. When its enemies become disoriented from inhaling the gas, it attacks them. Volcanoes or dry, craggy places are its home. It emanates a sweet-smelling poisonous gas that attracts bug Pokémon, then attacks them.

Salazzle Pokedex: For some reason, only females have been found. It creates a reverse harem of male Salandit that it lives with. Filled with pheromones, its poisonous gas can be diluted to use in the production of luscious perfumes.

Explanation: Salandit and Salazzle are some of the coolest lizards in town, being the very first Poison/Fire type Pokemon and an obviously powerful choice for many trainer’s parties. In the first few weeks of release, I remember the frustration many had at being unable to evolve their Salandits, only to realize that their fire lizard was male and thus would not evolve at all–an interesting choice of evolution method and an amusing one when you read about their reverse harems. With a solid moveset and a really cool appearance, Salandit and Salazzle have grown very popular since its announcement. It appears to be based on the Japanese fire belly newt, which are appropriately toxic.
