15 – Litten/Torracat/Incineroar

Litten/Torracat Type: Fire

Litten/Torracat Classification: Fire Cat Pokemon

Litten Pokedex: While grooming itself, it builds up fur inside its stomach. It sets the fur alight and spews fiery attacks, which change based on how it coughs. It doesn’t allow its emotions to be easily seen. Earning its trust takes time. It prefers solitude.

Torracat Pokedex: At its throat, it bears a bell of fire. The bell rings brightly whenever this Pokémon spits fire. It boasts powerful front legs. With a single punch, it can bend an iron bar right over.

Incineroar Type: Fire/Dark

Incineroar Classification: Heel Pokemon

Incineroar Pokedex:  This Pokémon has a violent, selfish disposition. If it’s not in the mood to listen, it will ignore its Trainer’s orders with complete nonchalance. After hurling ferocious punches and flinging furious kicks, it finishes opponents off by spewing fire from around its navel.

Explanation: I really liked Litten when it was first revealed. The chill fire kitty seemed like the purrfect embodiment of a cat meme, with nonchalant expression and appropriate name (it’s lit) to boot. But Litten’s evolutions are a little less savvy, especially its middle stage, which seems like it can’t decide what it wants to be. Remember when we were all worried Incineroar would be a Fighting type? Thank goodness we dodged that bullet.

Wait, though, we’re not done. I have not yet mentioned the glory and the terror that is Incineroar’s attacking animation. Anything that involves shooting fire means Incineroar leans back and expels flames from his…belt buckle. Yup, his belt buckle. It doesn’t always look like that’s what’s happening, though. I’m not immature at all, nope.
