Invincible VS looks like an incredible entry in a suddenly crowded field of superheroic fighting games. Of course, we knew we'd hear more at New York Comic Con, but I don't know if anybody suspected Cecil Stedman would show up to get his hands dirty.
The man that typically gives orders to the Global Guardians uses a variety of gadgets, teleportation, and some assistance from other heroes and various scientific experiments to mix it up with the superhuman enemies of the Invincible universe. Hey, it's his job to be prepared for anything Earth's numerous foes might be cooking up.
Invincible VS will be published by Skybound Games, which will handle indie offerings and projects based on Skybound Entertainment's stable of intellectual properties. It will feature teams of three heroes or villains from the Invincible books, featuring the graphic, bloody combat seen in the comic and its hit Amazon Prime animated adaptation. The voice actors from the TV show will reprise their roles.
It's being developed by Quarter Up, a studio of veterans best known for their work on the 2013 redo of Killer Instinct. Working in close partnership with the minds behind Invincible has helped craft a story mode that will give us an original adventure in the comic's universe. Invincible writer and co-producer Helen Leigh is working with Quarter Up narrative director Mike Rogers on the story, which will include 25 minutes of animation.
