Marvel Rivals is one of the most popular hero shooters out there, but it didn't make the Switch 2's launch lineup. In an interview with Videogamer, Marvel Rivals game director Guangyun Chen explained NetEase is interested, but hasn't received a development kit from NIntendo yet.
"We are in the process of obtaining development machine for NS 2," Chen said. " “Once we have it, we will conduct a thorough evaluation and provide a response."
They also considered bringing it to the original Switch, but Producer Weicong Wu told Videogamer it wasn't a great play experience. Cue up your favorite "Why does this game look so bad on Nintendo Switch?" horror story here.
Nintendo hasn't given out as many development kits as usual, leading to a lot of popular games not being available at launch. If you're not a content creator or a dedicated fan who has to be the first one on the block to have something, there's really no hurry to get one right now.
Season 3 of Rivals, the Abyss Awakens, arrives July 11. The villain is Knull, King of the Symbiotes, and the two latest heroes are confirmed to be Blade and Phoenix. We're also getting a new map, Klyntar: Celestial Husk.
Knull has killed multiple Celestials, which are godlike beings in the Marvel Universe. The new map is the body of a fallen Celestial which has landed on Klyntar, the symbiote homeworld, and been absorbed into the landscape.
In addition to all this goodness, there will be a new competitive mode happening in Season 3. Good times are coming!
