Here's a genre mash-up for you. How do you feel about a game that blends roguelikes, bullet heaven, tower defense, and city building? Monsters are Coming: Rock & Road is that game. You're tasked with defending a city from creepy spider monsters, but get this twist: the town can move.
Why can I not stop thinking about that Spongebob episode where Patrick had the ridiculous idea to move the town, and after not being able to come up with anything else, they decided to push Bikini Bottom around? Anyhow, you play as The Peon, tasked with running around and fetching all the resources necessary to defend the town. As it levels up, you'll need to decide what the best defenses are to fend off the monster hordes.
There are also upgrades for The Peon, so they can get their hands a little dirty in the fight against the spidery monsters. Every so often, you'll reach a shelter where you can get some much-needed rest and plan some more strategy.
I have recently fallen in love with the survivors genre, and this one looks like an incredible hybrid of multiple genres. This invasion begins on November 20 when Monsters are Coming: Rock & Road arrives on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
