One of the things I love best about sports games is the ability to play legends of the game against today's greatest. Sports fans are always asking "What if?" and video games offer a way to settle at least a few of these arguments. MLB The Show 25 has revealed the latest legends who will step onto the diamond in this year's offering.

  • Manny Ramirez
  • Roger Clemens
  • Jason Kipnis
  • Lance Berkman
  • Jason Varitek
  • Bobby Abreu
  • Clay Buchholz
  • Gil Hodges
  • Darren O’Day
  • Hank Greenberg
  • James “Cool Papa” Bell
  • Wilber “Bullet Joe” Rogan
  • Jose Bautista
  • Don Baylor
  • Bobby Grich
  • Jim Kaat
  • Ted Simmons
  • Reggie Sanders
  • Preston Wilson
  • Chase Headley
  • Terry Pendleton
  • Mark Davis
  • Norman “Turkey” Stearnes
  • Jordan Zimmermann
  • Ubaldo Jimenez
  • Ted Williams

Roger Clemens' addition continues the inclusion of recent "steroid era" legends. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa quietly joined the game in recent years, and fans have been happily mashing dingers with them. The Hall of Fame's stance is one thing, but Sony is in this to sell video games. If the fans want to use players such as Clemens and Sosa, it appears The Show is going to add them.

Manny Ramirez tested positive for HcG in 2009, a drug often used to mask steroid usage. Sports writers may look unfavorably upon him, but his popularity from the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cleveland Indians should make him a regular pick in Diamond Dynasty.

Us real old-timers can't wait to unleash the sweet swing of Ted Williams, considered by many to be the greatest hitter who ever lived. His inclusion puts the fantasy in fantasy baseball for so many of us. For those unfamiliar, if Sony does him justice you're going to learn more than you ever wanted to know about him this year.
