After a bizarre two-day span that saw the popular card battler unexpectedly banned, Marvel Snap is back. Second Dinner Chief Development Officer Ben Brode announced on the Snap Discord that the developer is looking for a new publisher to prevent another mishap like this.
Second Dinner and Marvel Snap found themselves accidentally caught up in the United States government's ongoing fight with social app TikTok. It went dark on January 19, which it had announced beforehand. But a number of another apps related to ByteDance, including Snap, went offline as well.
Second Dinner had no idea anything like this was in the works, nor did the millions of players who suddenly couldn't log in and play the game. Senior Community Manager Griffin Bennett mentioned players will be compensated for their loss of gaming time.
As for TikTok, President Donald Trump has issued an executive order to keep it operating in the United States for 75 days.
"I guess I have a warm spot for TikTok," Trump said. The company's CEO, Shou Zi Chew, attended Trump's inauguration. He has credited the app for helping him reach the legions of young voters who helped fuel his seemingly impropable return to power.
Trump had initially backed banning the app due to it being a potential security risk, but has changed course for now. This saga will surely have a few more twists and turns, and App Trigger will keep you posted on the latest developments. Right now, I'm happy to have Marvel Snap back. I just unlocked Death for my destruction-based deck after countless hours of grinding.
