Half of the fun of watching a show such as Star Trek: Voyager is the yelling at the TV, or in your favorite online forum, that you can't believe Janeway made that decision. Alright, smarty pants. You want to get your crew out of the Delta Quadrant? Here's your chance. Star Trek Voyager: Across The Unknown is a survival game that will put you in the captain's chair.

A demo available on Steam now takes you through the game's first adventure, which is basically Voyager's first episode. Forgive me for spoilers for a show from the 90s, but you will decide whether to use the Caretaker's Array to get home or destroy it to prevent it from falling into the Kazons' hands.

This is largely a tutorial, so you won't get to change Voyager's course a whole bunch during this first mission. In fact, what you'll do more than anything in this first mission is mine for resources. It is a survival game after all. Hopefully, a few of the guardrails come off whenever we get the entire game. Developer GameXcite has teased one of the biggest decisions. We will get to choose whether to separate Tuvix back into Tuvok and Neelix or to let the hybrid of these two characters live.

If we can get more decisions of that importance, we'll have something interesting on our hands here. I wonder if we'll see Paris and Janeway turn into prehistoric lizards and um.. propagate their race? We'll let you know when there's a release date for this one.
