Madden 26 better have the "reverse hurdle" special move
By Brian Allen
There are a million things that happen in video games that are theoretically, unrealistic. No NFL player could score a touchdown every week, against every opponent, running the exact same play. Oh wait, Derrick Henry has been doing that. In most cases that's unrealistic. Speaking of unrealistic, this happened yesterday.
I've been watching football for more than 40 years and I have never seen anything like that. The combination of the athleticism to be able to do it and the creativity to even realize he should do it are unheard of. Madden 26 has to include this next year.
The basic things about football don't change from year to year, so it's understandably hard to find new things to include. Most spins, jukes and yes, hurdle moves are something we've all seen before, just chained together in a different way. To its credit, Madden 25 offers multiple means of doing that with special moves.
Madden designers eagerly await the chance to put in gamechanging animations that everybody recognizes. Madden 24 touted Patrick Mahomes' basketball-inspired no look passes and "Superman" style throws. One year, the game even added the prayer gesture that came to be known as "Tebowing" after the former Florida Gator became a constant topic of NFL discussion.
Philadelphia Eagles' star Saquon Barkley has given the Madden team a gift with this one. If it's added to Madden 26 and I only figure out to do one special move, it's going to be the reverse hurdle. It's the ultimate mix of creativity and trolling, and thus perfect for the "Iggles" and their fans.
