The rumors are true. Lionsgate will be bringing its wildly popular Saw and John Wick franchises to gaming platforms. The studio talked up both during its Q2 2026 earnings call. Apparently, we can expect official reveals for both franchises soon.
It's kind of wild that there hasn't been a full-fledged, AAA, John Wick shoots everyone in sight game yet. We've gotten the now-delisted strategy game John Wick Hex and John Wick Chronicles, a VR game. I've never played the VR offering, but John Wick Hex is well worth playing if you can find a physical copy.
John Wick appears in Fortnite, along with just about every other character from pop culture from the past 40 years. But man, the world portrayed in John Wick, with the High Table and a New York that seems to have no less than five assassins per square mile, could be epic.
Saw has had two games that weren't great, and of course, Jigsaw and the Pig feature prominently in Dead By Daylight. This is a shift in strategy for Lionsgate, which has preferred the relatively low-risk strategy of licensing its characters to other games where it makes sense.
I'm a lot more worried about the Saw game. They've already crashed and burned with two games. The speculation is some kind of asymmetrical horror game, but we've already seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead flounder in that space. Both of them are far more suited to it than Saw would be.
A Saw game in the DBD has the same problem as the aforementioned horror games. DBD did such a good job adapting them there has been little room for anyone else. Your game will inevitably draw comparisons and so far, none have measured up.
