In today's "Good Lord, I Love Nerds" special we have an alternate-history game that allows players to free France with the help of specialized battle mechs. Studio Imugi's Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution rewrites Napoleon historic coup with giant robots, because why not?

To succeed in this revolution, players must master battle tactics, political intrigue, and yes, the aforementioned giant robots. Here's a full list of features:

Pièces de Résistance (Game Features):

  • A War of Ideological Strategy: Choose and perfect your ideals and take control of France; she must be saved from rampant disregard for the people’s well-being
  • Epic Alternate-history Battles: Blades and gunpowder clash with towering state-of-the-art mechs and tense, tactical, turn-based combat that rewards valor and cunning over simple brute strength.
  • Perfected Political Drama: A Revolution plays out in real time as you rewrite laws to drive government alongside famous historical characters like Robespierre, Lafayette, and Danton. Extend your reach and unlock tools to realize your political agenda - effect change through upheaval and terror, or by safeguarding order and the old regime.
  • Recruitable New Allies: Conscript battalions, recruit officers, build new Colossi, and nurture their veterancy to expand your territory as you take control of France.
  • Innovative Political Theater: Manage tensions, conflicts, and consequential trails of the old regime vs revolutionaries in narrative escalations inspired by actual history.
  • Build, Exploit, Upgrade, Conquer: Exercise your political agenda through action as you influence infrastructure & population in the regions under your control. Gain seats in the National Convention by leveraging propaganda and pushing simulated social classes to embrace your ideology.

I love alt history and tactical strategy, so this is one I am sure I will get into in the near future. Bonaparte is available on Steam for $19.99.
