In one of the biggest gaming treats of spooky season so far, Epic has returned its Ash Williams skin to Fortnite's Item Shop. This is his first appearance since Oct. 2023, so if you're a fan of Evil Dead you might want to grab this now.
His full cosmetic bundle is 1,800 V Bucks, and for that you get Ash, the Necronomicon and Boomstick Backbling, a Chainsaw Harvesting Tool, cellar door emote, and Evil Dead loading screen. As a fan of all things Evil Dead, I'm hustling over to the Item Shop for this. But that's far from the only thing Fortnitemares has in store.
Demon Rush is an entire mode dedicated to some of the most popular characters in the world, K-Pop Demon Hunters. A Poppy Playtime bundle is coming, with a legitimately horrifying looking Huggy Wuggy cosmetic.
Even Doja Cat is getting on the fun as the Mother of Thorns, described as a "trickster, enchantress, and sorceress. There are rumors that Shaggy, Ghostface, and Jason Voorhees are also coming. Pour a little something out for now defunct fighter MultiVersus. It looks as if Warner will pursuit the strategy of monetizing its characters elsewhere since making games is really hard work.
While I miss MultiVersus every day, this may not be a bad strategy long term for Warner. Skins give a steady stream of revenue while you pass hard tasks such as development and game balance on to someone else. Although, hear me out, a family-friendly survival horror Scooby-Doo game would be awesome.
