Everybody in wrestling video game land is scratching and scraping for WWE 2K26 news, but it always feels more official when WWE themselves is talking about it. Last night on Raw, superstars including Asuka, Grayson Waller, and the New Day gave some of their recommendations for potential cover stars. Pro wrestling being pro wrestling, many of them suggested they were the ideal cover star. But not everybody took the opportunity to put themselves over.

Of course, Insider Gaming's Mike Straw has reported that CM Punk will be the cover star and showcase subject. He tends to be right about these things, so that's what I'm expecting to see. Although I would not hate a New Day cover. Hyberole aside, they are one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history.

However, we have seen them do multiple covers for a few years now. Last year at launch, we got covers featuring Roman Reigns, The Undertaker, and The Bloodline. Later, we got a John Cena retirement edition with him on the cover. I'll be surprised if we don't get multiple covers.

Multiple covers are becoming the industry standard, kind of ironic since so few people are now buying physical copies. Still, it's considered a huge honor to be the cover star of a game like NBA 2K, also done and promoted by Take-Two. NBA 2K has been doing multiple covers for a while now as well. NBA 2K26 has covers featuring WNBA star Angel Reese, NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, and reigning NBA champ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

But, with the hype train officially starting from both WWE Games and the actual WWE, we should have some concrete answers soon.
