In November, gamers are surrounded on all sides by big games, big sales and everything in the industry battling for our attention. But at App Trigger, we like to take the time to point out some of the ones you might have missed. Escape from Ever After is a quirky RPG inspired by Paper Mario and those style of RPGs.
When classic fairytale adventurer Flynt Buckler storms the castle of his arch nemesis, Tinder the Dragon, he finds the place has been converted into corporate offices. Tinder's nowhere around, and the place is filled with coffee-sipping drones. It seems storybooks are a huge market with cheap labor and resources to exploit, so capitalism has happened. Flynt and Tinder must work together to stop the evil conglomerate Ever After Inc!
- Fight in a fun, fast-paced battle system that rewards experimentation and strategy;
- Build and customize your party—every character has unique skills that can be equipped and upgraded throughout your journey;
- Engage in office banter, help your storybook coworkers, and decorate your office as you climb the corporate ladder;
- Explore vast storybook worlds brimming with sidequests, treasures, and secrets;
- Stories within stories: experience a charming and lively narrative where the rules are constantly changing;
- A jazzy, big-band soundtrack that keeps the energy pumping throughout!
Escape from Ever After comes from Sleepy Castle Studio, a two-person based team in Montreal, Canada. The latest trailer debuted during the OTK Winter Showcase. The game already has a 96 percent, overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam, and more than 10,000 players have tried its prologue, Escape from Ever After: Onboarding.
It will release January 23 on PC and consoles, and this looks a fun throwback to the 90s era RPGs with a timely message.
