For the second time this year, the entire sports loving Internet is looking at Dallas-Fort Worth and wondering what the hell is happening over there. In a deal that may change the entire landscape of the NFC if not the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys sent disgruntled linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.
The Madden community is quick to evaluate real-life trades, usually by attempting them in-game. The verdict is in from multiple sources, even virtual Jerry Jones thinks his real-life counterpart has lost it. Franchise mode users have attempted to replicate the deal that sent Parsons to Green Bay for two first-round picks and Kenny Clark.
Robot Jerry Jones says nope, Cowboy fans. I guess it isn't yet possible to accurately program huge, bruisable egos in Madden NFL.
It's a sad, sad case of deja vu for sports fans in the DFW area, a list that includes your favorite site expert. In February, my phone was one of thousands that began exploding with notifications when the news broke that the Dallas Mavericks had traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, receiving Anthony Davis in return.
The Doncic trade sent the Mavs' franchise player to LA for Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Like this Micah Parsons deal, the Luka trade was so lopsided that even the NBA 2K version of the Dallas Mavericks told the virtual Los Angeles Lakers to get out of here with that nonsense.
This isn't much of a silver lining, but Madden 26's franchise mode is drawing rave reviews. I suspect quite a few Cowboys fans will fire this game up to see if they can undo Jerry's handiwork.
