Dallas Mavericks - uh excuse me, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic - isn't just an NBA star. He's a Top 500 Overwatch player. A new Season 18 event will give us a chance to "Play Like Luka," winning up to 77 loot boxes in the process. For those who don't watch basketball, the Slovenian superstar wears no. 77.
In addition to all the loot boxes, rewards include Battle Pass XP, weapon charms, and the player title Sharpshooter 77. The event also reveals some of Luka's builds for his favorite characters. Since he's Top 500, it's safe to assume these are the optimal builds for the characters. We may not be able to copy his otherworldly skill, but we can at least use the same build.
If you're a new or lapsed player, it's possible you have no idea what I'm talking about. A perk system for characters was teased before Overwatch 2 launched, but quietly went away before it did. In February, the long awaited system finally came to fruition.
As you hit certain in-game milestones, you'll unlock a minor perk at level 2, and a major one at level 3. It allows players to change the way they play during the match. Sometimes you don't need to swap characters, you just need to make a few changes in the way you're playing the game.
At the same time, a new mode called Stadium was introduced. It's the biggest change to the core game since its launch in 2016. If you're going to play like Luka, Stadium mode will yield the most XP for his challenges. Go be a sharpshooter!
