I have been telling anybody who will listen that Dunk City Dynasty is one of my favorite games of the year. Now I've got some serious backup, as Dunk City Dynasty has taken home the Google Play Award for Best Multiplayer Game.

DCD is an arcade title in the vein of NBA Street or NBA Jam, but with a great deal of customization involved. Do you want to prioritize Brook Lopez's long-range shooting ability or his rebounding attributes?

Players bring multiple special abilities into the game, including gamebreaking ultimates that unleash superpowered shots, rim-rattling dunks or powerful blocks. There are the classic gacha elements present in modern mobile games, but I'm no money spent and boast a collection including Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Dennis Rodman.

Yes, they put Dennis Rodman in the game. His kit is, as you would expect, heavily based on defense. In one of my best games ever, I earned MVP without scoring a single point due to my impact with rebounds, assists, and hustle. NBA 2K would never bestow an MVP on somebody who hadn't scored a point. Heck, an actual NBA broadcast would never do that. Dunk City Dynasty knows ball.

DCD's Global Championship is currently taking place in Shanghai, China with the Finals coming November 23. You can follow all the excitement on DCD's Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X.

If you even kind of like basketball games, especially those of the arcade variety, this is me again imploring to play Dunk City Dynasty. You won't regret it.
