The debate about whether megahit Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is an indie game may never truly be settled, but there's no longer a debate about this award. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 took the trophy for Best Indie Game, no doubt one of the many wins it will pick up tonight.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has sold more than 5 million copies to date, and already cleaned at the Golden Joystick Awards earlier this year. Those sales happened even though Clair Obscur was a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. This title is at the center of numerous industry debates.

The other nominees were Absolum, Ball X Pit, Blue Prince, Hades 2, and Hollow Knight Silksong. Whatever happens with these awards, it has been an incredible year for indies. No doubt it will be an incredible night for them as well.

The Game Awards is the time when the industry celebrates its biggest, brightest, best - and The Muppets. I'm not mad, I love the Muppets too. I'll be here all night, weighing in on all the awards, new game trailers, and exciting announcements. Something tells me I'm going to be talking about this game a lot in the next few hours.
