Best Nintendo Switch Games #8 – The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+
Developer: Nicalis
Synopsis: In this bizarre, psychological, roguelike dungeon crawler, you play as a young child named Isaac, who escapes his crazed mother into a secret basement beneath his house filled with both biblical and biological horrors. Using his tears as a weapon, he must defeat everything from angels to mutilated babies to poop monsters in order to escape the darkness of the cellar (or not) and unlock one of the games’ many, many endings. With different items and abilities appearing in each run, different bosses, and plenty of new characters to unlock, you’ll be hard-pressed to see everything this game has to offer.
Why it’s one of the best Nintendo Switch games: The glorious nature of The Binding of Isaac is that it is never the same game twice, even more so than most roguelikes. With Nicalis’ continual updates culminating in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, the Nintendo Switch has been blessed with the most complete, complex, and replayable edition of The Binding of Isaac to take with them anywhere and everywhere. It even includes some of the best community mods, and will continue to be updated over time with new ones as they surface. Many of the games on this list are good, but may not be worth your time if you’ve already beaten them on another platform. The Binding of Isaac is not one of those games.
