Best Nintendo Switch Games #14 – Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

Synopsis: It’s a quiet day in the Mushroom Kingdom when suddenly, a bunch of Rabbids show up, including some that looks suspiciously like the heroes and heroine of the Mario universe! In an XCOM-style RTS, the Mario cast and the Rabbids lookalikes must team up to unravel what has happened to the Mushroom Kingdom and put a stop to it…if only they can get the Rabbids to stop goofing off long enough to get it done.

Why it’s one of the best Nintendo Switch games: Sometimes, it’s the absolutely bonkers ideas that magically work out. Mario and Rabbids may sound like a bizarro combination, but the pairing’s goony humor and colorful universe made for a brilliant stage on which to bring a lighthearted version of what we loved in XCOM. Though not quite as deep as its darker cousin, Mario + Rabbids nonetheless brings its own set of challenges as you play through its various levels, shooting around cover, diving through pipes, and strategizing your way around new, dangerous Rabbids enemies. You’d be remiss not to let Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle surprise you if you haven’t already.
