Bit Reactor, a studio comprised of many former Firaxis employees, has been working on a Star Wars game. We always suspected it would be Star Wars' answer to XCOM, and some leaks acquired by MP1st seem to confirm that.
Screenshots from an artist's portfolio include Bo Katan fighting clone troopers, and there's a character that looks like the adult version of Jedi Asohka Tano. Bit Reactor staff worked on the XCOM series as well as the extremely underrated Midnight Suns.
Star Wars is full of huge scale battles, making it a perfect fit for the turn-based tactical combat XCOM is famous for. Now, about a million things can happen before a game ever makes it from concept to our consoles. If I had a credit for every Star Wars game that didn't get finished, I could finance my own Empire - wait, Rebellion. I totally meant I would finance a Rebellion, not a gigantic, planet-destroying empire, heh, heh, heh...
Remember Star Wars: 1313, one of the darlings of E3 2012? It looked promising, and was rumored to even give players a much-desired chance to slip into Boba Fett's jetpack and get into mischief. It never materialized, although Disney hasn't ruled out using its story in some other form.
I'm not telling you all this to be a Droidy Downer. I'm just saying that as badly as I want an XCOM-style game in the Star Wars universe, I'll believe it exists when I'm overwatching a battalion of Stormtroopers, not before. Obviously, they'll have to boost Stormtrooper hit percentages, because what we see on camera wouldn't provide even Cadet-level difficulty for our heroes.
