Best Xbox One Games #42 – Prey

Developer: Arkane Studios

Synopsis: More spiritual successor to System Shock than a sequel to its namesake, Prey takes place on a space station where scientists perform experiments. Player Morgan Yu finds himself between a rock and a hard place when everything falls apart, as the alien Typhon threat breaks loose and kills humans onboard the ship. With a variety of different weapons (including a do-it-yourself platforming tool), it’s up to you to make your way through the sprawling station to escape.

Why it’s one of the 50 best Xbox One games: There’s a cruel ingenious aspect about Prey, and it’s the mimic gimmick. The Typhon often take the shape of ordinary objects, making you think twice about even picking up a new weapon. That adds an added layer of paranoia that feeds into the subtle action-adventure horror of this game.

Underneath it all, however, lies an intriguing story dilemma that will have players guessing just what exactly this space station is all about.
